Major thunderstorms across Sydney are causing delays for flights at Sydney Airport.
Some flights have been delayed by over an hour, although most are leaving and arriving between 15 to 30 minutes after schedule. Passengers are being advised to check with their airline and live flight statuses can be found on the Sydney Airport website.

A female passenger on board a Emirates flight from Auckland to LHR Heathrow was shocked to find a fly in her in flight meal or her salad. My God what is wrong with the Catering at NZAA/AKL don't they check these meals before they are put into in flight trolleys and carted onto the truck to go out to the aircraft. I mean Emirates is a top airline for service and there public relations tools are good. I wonder how many other in flight meals could have insects in them. I know they out source there in flight cooked meals to a company but health and hygiene is strict with this. 30 hour flight would send you off the menu finding this in a meal.

Indonesia retrieves final major part of the AirAsia QZ8501 fuselage
(AFP) - Indonesia has retrieved the final major part of the fuselage of an AirAsia jet that crashed into the Java Sea in December, killing all 162 people on board, officials said on Saturday.
The mangled wreckage, the largest part of the plane retrieved, was pulled from the sea Friday and loaded onto a ship, national search and rescue chief Bambang Soelistyo told AFP. "We have retrieved on Friday the last and large part of the AirAsia fuselage with a wing still intact," Mr Soelistyo told AFP. No bodies were found during the course of the operation. Mr Soelistyo said in a press conference on Saturday that authorities will decide on a final date for the salvage operation after a meeting with the victims' families scheduled for next week.
Some 103 bodies have been recovered since the plane went down in stormy weather while flying from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore, search and rescue coordinator S.B. Supriyadi told AFP.

Turkish Airlines has announced today that it has acquired landing slots for Heathrow from Scandinavian Airlines
Turkish Airlines said today "In oder to strengthen our flight network our incorporation has decided to take over one afternoon landing and take-off right (slot pair) at London Heathrow from Scandinavian Airlines at the beginning of the winter traffic program on the 25th October."

The Kiwi airline air new zealand has come out publicly stating it will up the anti on airfare war prices and add hundreds or thousands of seats to it's growing network worldwide. The CEO Chris Luxton said even though these are tough times for airfare wars they should have plenty of room to compete with there competitors. He also made a statement congratulating the CEO Allan Joyce of Qantas for a $ 206 million dollar profit for Qantas. In return Qantas CEO said air new zealand is the number one airline in the world for top service and innovation. Luxton said people who book on our airline ANZ will be in for a winter surprise later in April which will shock the aviation arena and airliners of the globe. He would not speculate as to what this might be, as this is being kept out of the lime light. I am thinking something to do with $1 domestic fares or buy on ticket get the other free??.

United Continental Holdings Inc. ’s management sent a dramatic safety warning to its pilots last month, calling for stepped-up compliance with rules and procedures following several serious incidents caused by cockpit errors. NEWS Boeing Lining Up Buyers for Early Overweight Dreamliners
Boeing Co. has lined up buyers for 10 of the early, overweight 787 Dreamliners whose years in storage made them emblems of the jet’s factory woes and a drag on profit, people with knowledge of the plans said. The planes, dubbed “terrible teens” for their assembly struggles and their places near the start of the production run, have an assessed value of roughly $1 billion, or less than half the catalog price. The original customers balked because the aircraft were too heavy, limiting their range. Ethiopian Airlines is in advanced discussions to buy eight of the early-build 787s, said four people who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. Air Austral, based on France’s Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, has already ordered two of the jets, the people said.

Piaggio has successfully removed the pilot from the Italian aircraft manufacturer's popular twin-engine, turboprop, pusher-type executive transport. The P.180 – affectionately referred to as "the flying catfish" – has been redesigned into an unmanned aircraft for the Italian Air Force, and it's got a new name: the Hammerhead. The new P.1HH HammerHead is a multi-purpose drone powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-66B turboprop engines designed to perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions worldwide. The Malaysia Airlines flight 370 has been missing for almost a year now and people are still wildly speculating as to what happened to it. The latest claims, made by U.S science writer Jeff Wise, suggest that the plane was hijacked on the orders of Vladimir Putin and secretly landed in Kazakhstan.
Wise, who led CNN’s coverage of the Boeing 777-200E, has based his eccentric theory on pings that the plane gave off for seven hours after it went missing.
Wise thinks that hijackers ‘spoofed’ the plane’s navigation data to make it appear as though it went in another direction, but flew it to the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which is leased from Kazakhstan by Russia.
If Russia has the savvy to plan an insanely complex special operation, they also have a track record of implementing such schemes,‘ Wise wrote on his website.
‘Kazakhstan lacks the means and technical savvy to carry out a sophisticated hijack, the same is not true of Russia.
‘Russia is (arguably) the only country that stands apart from the West and yet is as technically advanced in the aerospace industry as the United States.’
The theory comes after a new documentary claims that the plane was deliberately flown of course by somebody in the cockpit.
Aviation disaster experts analyzed the satellite data and discovered that the plane flew on for hours after losing contact. That would partially back up Wise’s theory. Although it had been believed that the plane made three turns, leaving it flying south towards Antarctica. This is probably the data that Wise thinks is ‘spoofed.’ Instead of flying towards the Antarctica, the flight was heading towards the airfield in Kazakhstan (below).
This airport was built for planes to self-land. Meaning if the plane was hijacked it would not necessarily need a pilot to land it.Speculating as to why Putin would want to have hijacked the plane, Wise told New York Magazine, “Maybe he wanted to demonstrate to the United States, which had imposed the first punitive sanctions on Russia the day before, that he could hurt the West and its allies anywhere in the world,”
‘Maybe what he was really after were the secrets of one of the plane’s passengers.
‘Maybe there was something strategically crucial in the hold.
‘Or maybe he wanted the plane to show up unexpectedly somewhere someday, packed with explosives.
‘There’s no way to know.’

EMERGENCY Air China #CA1336 Makes Emergency Landing after Bomb Scare
Media report police presence at the airport, as well as ambulances and fire engines.
A female passenger surnamed Wang onboard claimed the plane was about to explode, which caused the emergency landing.
Flight CA1336, an airbus A321-200 plane, took off from Nanning airport at 12:24 and was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at around 14:45 on Wednesday.
The command center at Chongqing airport received the alert report from the flight crew at 13:35 and the plane landed safely at the airport at 14:00.
No suspicious devices had been found on the plane following security searches at the airport.
The suspect had been taken away by police for further investigation in Chongqing and the flight will take off again after security checks, China Central Television reports.

Southwest statement after missing inspection
Operational Impact Minimized as FAA approves plan to complete inspections within five days
Southwest Airlines discovered an overdue maintenance check required to be performed on the standby hydraulic system, which serves as a back-up to the primary hydraulic systems. As a result of this discovery, 128 -700 aircraft were identified as having overflown a required check. Once identified, Southwest immediately and voluntarily removed the affected aircraft from service, initiated maintenance checks, disclosed the matter to the FAA, and developed an action plan to complete all overdue checks. The FAA approved a proposal that would allow Southwest to continue operating the aircraft for a maximum of five days as the checks are completed. Approximately 80 cancellations occurred today as a result of the events and the airline is anticipating a very minimal impact to their operations tomorrow. The Safety of our Customers and Employees remains our highest priority and we are working quickly to resolve the situation.

NEWS Claims have being made that MH370 flew to the Antartica and crashed
Claims made by NZ have said the MH370 B772 made three turns before it disappeared of radar and headed towards the Antarctica and maybe down on the ice some where. The claim comes to say the plane had flown a lot longer after it's disappearance and could have gone south towards the harsh environment. I personally doubt that as the flying time and fuel on board would have run out way before the plane entered the Antarctica region. Further more it could be speculation again as Mc Murdo tower would have spotted the plane as there eye's and ears are very sharp down that area of the world.

EMERGENCY American Airlines #AA65 forced to land at Heathrow after windscreen craks mid-flight
An American Airlines Boeing 767-300 was forced into an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport this morning after the windscreen cracked mid-flight.
Flight AA65 was around 45 minutes into its journey from Zurich in Switzerland to New York when pilots declared an emergency, and landed at Heathrow at 11.30am local time.

NEWS Thomas cook B753 near Budapest, smoke in flight deck
B753 by markyharky (license CC by) A Thomas Cook Boeing 757-300, registration G-JMAA performing flight MT-1125 from Sofia (Bulgaria) to London Gatwick,EN (UK) with 280 people on board, was enroute at FL340 about 100nm south of Budapest when the crew declared PAN reporting "smoke in the flight deck" and decided to divert to Budapest. While descending towards Budapest the crew performed the smoke drills and subsequently reported that the smoke and fumes in the flight deck had dissipated but there was still a strong smell of burning in the cabin and some smoke. The aircraft landed safely on Budapest's runway 31R about 20 minutes after leaving FL340. Emergency services checked the aircraft, which afterwards taxied to the apron. The passengers were taken to hotels. The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 17 hours, then continued the flight and is estimated to reach Gatwick with a delay of 21 hours.

NEWS Thomas Cook looks to sell its airline business as part of a cost saving scheme
British holiday company Thomas Cook Group is looking to sell its airline section of the business as part of a cost-saving plan, the Sunday Times newspaper reported without naming its sources.
The world's oldest travel group has looked at a number of potential buyers over the last few months including rival carriers but yet no deal has been reached and talks are not yet under way.
Thomas Cook has not yet commented on this.

NEWS Air New Zealand in doubt over sight seeing flights to Antarctica
Back in February of 2012 many families who lost loved ones on the DC10-30 ZK-NZP TE901 accident in the Antarctica had revisited the sight of what remains the memorial and the wreckage of flight TE901 on the lower slopes of Mt Erebus. Air New Zealand put on a specail public charter using there own B744 too the ice after 35 years ago when they lost one of there DC10-30 aircraft.257 passengers and crew perished. Now the airline has run into trouble trying to find a suitable wide bodied aircraft for the trip. As there last two remaining B744'S are now retired. ZK-SUH ZK-NBV were used on the last two trips as NZ6001 NZ6061 in 2113 2014. They are doubt over there B773 aircraft doing the trip. But this organisation that rune the trips says they can charter a b744 when needed.

NEWS Iraqi Airways launches Kurdistan routes from Manchester
Iraqi Airways announced the commencement of two new services from the UK’s third biggest airport, Manchester. Starting on Sunday March 15th, the airline will begin services to Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, flying from Terminal One at the global gateway to the North. However, it is though that a fall in tourists to the country has prompted a rethink and easyJet has been granted permission to fly twice a week to the country from Stansted after the 2nd June.

Qatar Airways has decided to halt the beginning of a new service to Tanzania, and a new service to Pakistan.
The new route in Tanzania was a Doha to Doha route with a first stop in Kilimanjaro and then a stop in Zanzibar.
The 5 weekly route departed Doha at 0735 in the morning to arrive back at Qatar's capital just before midnight at 11pm. The flight was to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The flight, operating on flight number QR2951 would begin on the 1st July and would have operated at the following times:
departs DOHA at 0735
arrives KILIMANJARO at 1235 and departs at 1600
arrives ZANZIBAR at 1700 and departs at 1800
arrives DOHA at 2300
Qatar Airways already operates to Kilimanjaro to Doha via Dar es Salaam.
