NEWS: Jetstar flight forced to make emergency landing in Newcastle

A Jetstar flight from the Gold Coast to Sydney has made an emergency landing in Newcastle after smoke was spotted coming from one of the aircraft’s toilets.

Emergency crews were alerted on the ground and JQ413, carrying 190 passengers, landed safely at Williamtown Airport.

There is no sign of damage to the aircraft.

Passengers have disembarked the place without incident.

Jetstar said buses are being provided to transfer passengers to Sydney by road.

"The captain on Jetstar flight JQ 413 from the Gold Coast to Sydney elected to divert to Newcastle as a precaution after crew reported a smell in the cabin," an airline spokesperson said.

"Engineers are currently assessing the aircraft to determine the cause of the smell.
