A MALAYSIAN Airlines passenger plane with 295 people has crashed in Ukraine today killing everyone onboard after reportedly being shot down by Russian authorities.
The Boeing 777 went down near the Russian border after a surface to air missile allegedly hit it.
Flight MH17 was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was downed, according to the Interfax News Agency.
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's interior minister, posted on Facebook today that everyone onboard MH17 died in the crash.
He wrote: "A civilian airliner travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has just been shot down by a Buk anti-aircraft system.
"280 passengers and 15 crew have been killed."
The news agency claimed that the Malaysian Airlines passenger plane was shot down by Russian authorities but that has yet to be confirmed.
A Malaysia Airlines official has confirmed the plane has crashed and they are due to make a statement shortly.
