NEWS JetBlue will have free satellite WiFi on every flight by fall 2016
JetBlue's plans to outfit its aircraft with fast satellite WiFi are most definitely on track. The airline has announced that it not only has Fly-Fi on all of its Airbus aircraft, but that it expects to have the free internet access aboard all its remaining flights by fall 2016. That's a big deal, particularly if you're a frequent flier -- it guarantees at least one carrier that will have relatively brisk (20Mbps per device) connections on every trip, whether it's a short hop or cross-country. JetBlue no doubt hopes that you'll use its expanding service to buy a few things, but it's hard to be too cynical about the company's motives when some other airlines charge you for WiFi that's virtually unusable.

The 170 passengers and crew members have been taken from the plane and are now being interviewed by gardaí about the incident
One man, injured during the flight, has been taken to hospital.
The passengers are expected to re-board the plane and fly to Dublin before midnight.

NEWS FAA Warning Flyers Not to Pack Lithium Batteries in Checked Bags
The batteries “present a risk of both igniting and fueling fires in aircraft cargo/baggage compartments,” the agency said in a statement.
The FAA also wants airlines to prohibit the batteries from checked bags and to remind passengers at the time of ticket purchase and again at check-in time not to pack them.
Passengers who need extra lithium batteries may however bring them in their carry-on bags.

NEWS Lufthansa, cabin crew fail to reach deal on pension scheme
The latest round of talks between German airline Lufthansa and its cabin crew workers has failed, with union UFO rejecting the German airline's latest offers as "missing the point". The German carrier is currently negotiating with staff from various parts of its business as it tries to cut costs to compete more effectively with low cost carriers and Gulf rivals. It has said in talks with union UFO, which represents around 19,000 flight attendants, that low interest rates meant it could no longer afford the retirement scheme it has been offering to cabin crew, which cost it 3.7 billion euros ($4.19 billion) last year and allowed workers to retire at the age of 55.

NEWS Air France keeping more cast members then planned
Air France will cut less than a third of the 2,900 job cuts it proposed in a 2016/2017 plan that triggered clashes with some staff, the chief executive of parent company Air France-KLM said on Sunday. The job cuts in 2016 would be voluntary and heavier job losses in 2017 could be avoided if talks with unions led to an agreement on alternative savings measures by the beginning of next year, Alexandre de Juniac said. “The ‘Plan B’ takes place over two years, 2016 and 2017. For 2016 it is under way,” he said in an interview on RTL radio and the LCI news channel.

NEWS Chicago O'Hare airport opens new runway
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) opened Runway 10R/28L Thursday October 15. The runway is 7,500 ft x 150 ft and will only handle 5 percent of all daytime flights annually over the next five years. The cost of the runway and two taxiways was $516 million, and planes are being controlled by a new 218-foot-tall airport tower that cost $41 million to build, according to the FAA and the Chicago Department of Aviation. Since the runway is several miles from the passenger terminal complex, the average taxi time per plane to the gate is estimated at about 20 minutes, FAA simulations show.

BREAKING Air France #AF990 from Paris CDG to Johannesburg declared an emergency
Air France flight #AF990 scheduled to take off yesterday at 23:30 finally took off at around 9:30 today. The flight declared an emergency and returned to Paris CDG due to not matching passengers/bags list. According to our source, 2 passengers were missing on board.
