NEWS NZAA lights go out on runway

The dramas at AKL last night sent many passengers fuming and flights delayed due to a fault causing the main runway 23R 5R to go out. Many flights inbound were diverted to ANZCH/CHC including a few big heavies. Auckland airport co operation is investigating this fault and has taken the matter seriously. This could have put many lives at risk or a fatal accident could have occurred. Air NZ had immediately swung into action stopping a few flights from taxing and they were quickly towed back to the gates. On approach Air NZ lights were quickly diverted to NZWN/WKG and the bigger aircraft to NZCH
