NEWS: Airlines unfazed by suggestions that Air Asia X could enter the trans-Tasman market

Air New Zealand and Qantas are unruffled by suggestions low-cost carrier AirAsia X could enter the competitive trans-Tasman market.

The Australian is reporting that Qantas and Air New Zealand are 'unfazed' by suggestions that AirAsia's long-haul carrier Air Asia X could enter the highly competitive Australia-New Zealand market. AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes said on Twitter in mid-February that "Yes new Zealand is being looked at via Australia". AirAsia X currently flies to several Australian destinations, including Sydney and Melbourne, but currently has no services to New Zealand.
