VIDEO First British Airways Boeing 787-9 arriving at Heathrow this morning as seen from Tower

British Airways’ first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner arrived at Heathrow this morning to take its place in the airline’s fleet.

Following an eight hour 45 minute flight from Seattle, the aircraft (registration G-ZBKA) touched down at its new home at 8.50am local time. It is the first of 22 787-9s the airline is set to receive from Boeing, with the next due to arrive in mid-October and a further two expected by the end of the year.

The aircraft will now go in to an intensive ‘entry into service’ programme, which will include ground trials and familiarisation trips, before it begins flying to Delhi on October 25.

EMERGENCY US Airways Express from Dallas to McAllen dragged the wingtip during landing

The type of plane involved, a CRJ Regional Jet operated by Phoenix-based Mesa Airlines for US Airways Express holds about 90 passengers.

Mesa Air Group released the following statement on the incident. "Due to concerns about possible damage incurred on landing, the aircraft was removed from service for inspection. Passengers exited the aircraft normally, and there were no reported injuries. Mesa Airlines is conducting an investigation."

ALERT Two Southwest Airlines planes collided on the ground at a Seattle Airport

The planes were being prepared to be towed to the gates for flights when one aircraft rolled into the plane in front of it. The nose and fuselage of one plane struck the end of the wing of the second aircraft.

Nobody was hurt in the slow-moving crash, said Perry Cooper, airport spokesman.
The incident occurred in a cargo area where planes are parked overnight.

Emily Samuels, spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines, said in an email that “aircraft maintenance personnel are working to thoroughly examine both aircraft to determine any necessary repairs to be performed prior to returning the aircraft to scheduled service.”

EMERGENCY Aer Lingus flight #EI110 makes emergency landing with brake fire at JFK Airport

An Aer Lingus flight bound for Shannon, Ireland returned to JFK Airport and made an emergency landing with a small brake fire soon after takeoff Monday, authorities said.

The 757 turned back after the pilot reported hydraulic failure around 7:15 p.m., the Port Authority said. Flight EI110 came into the landing hot, causing the plane’s brakes to smoke. Authorities said a small fire broke out on the left rear brake. There were no injuries.

Passengers were bused from the tarmac to the terminal and a fire crew doused the smoldering gear.

NEWS Plane With Deflated Tire Grounded.

An Air India flight bound for Dharamshala was grounded today after one of the rear tires deflated. The incident happened at Kangra airport just as the passengers wore about to board the aircraft but authorities decided to ground the flight. Passengers were diverted to near by airports such as Amritsar & Chandigarh. 


Kangra airport manager stated that the plane was grounded due to the de-inflation but it there was no emergency situation as tyre did not burst during landing.

NEWS Kiev bans flights from Russian airlines as the Ukraine crisis continues

Ukraine has said it will ban Russian airlines from flying into the country as part of sanctions over Moscow's support for rebels in the east.
Kiev said the measures would take effect on 25 October and would include major Russian airlines Aeroflot and Transaero.
Russian transit flights will also be banned if the planes carry military personnel or dual-use goods.
Moscow described the move as "an act of madness", promising a firm response.

ALERT Scottish man on #KLM flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam tries to open aircraft door mistaken for toilet

James Gray, has been banned from flying KLM after trying to open a plane door in flight and says he mistook it for the toilet.

He has been fined £434 by the airline after the incident on the flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam.

He has been banned from flying KLM for five years.

James says the airline staff has accused him of trying to open the door of the plane, but he insists he only touched the handle after confusing it for the door to the toilet.

Mr Gray was escorted from the flight the moment it touched down in Amsterdam.

He was taken away to a nearby detention centre where he had spent the night before being fined the £434.


For his return flight, the airline refused him from boarding the flight and relied on a friend to pay for his return flight with rival airline, Easyjet.

Mr Gray said he doesn't know if he will face any further action over the incident but is adamant he wouldn't dream of opening a plane door on purpose.

Spokesperson for Amsterdam airport and spokesperson for Royal Dutch Border Police both refused to comment.

KLM said a passenger had been handed over to authorities due to his "misbehaviour" on board.

NEWS Air India rumoured to start world's longest non-stop flight - an 18-hour journey from Bangalore to San Francisco

Air India is rumoured to begin new route linking the technology hotspots of Bangalore to San Francisco. 8,699 miles apart.

If the flight is government approved, this particular route will be the world's longest non-stop route with flight time of between 17 and 18 hours.

Current longest flight is operated by Qantas, from Dallas to Sydney. However Emirates next year will launch service from Dubai to Panama City which will become to longest route.


NEWS Teenager with cerebral palsy and autism is kicked off a flight to Mauritius for 'not sitting in his seat properly'

Disabled teenager with cerebral palsy was thrown off flight and banned from travelling along because he was 'not sitting in his seat properly' and was making other passengers nervous on the flight.

David Bysooa who is 16 from London was escorted from Air Mauritius flight at Heathrow when he became upset after being moved seat at the last minute.

The boy was going to see his grandmother in Mauritius and had flown there many times before.

David's mother Vidulah had booked her son a window seat to help with his anxiety but the crew had moved him to the aisle as there was no where else for him to sit.

The woman in the seat next to David complained when he was removed from the long haul flight and had been taken back to his parents in the terminal building.

Vidulah Bysooa, who works for Kenya Airways at LHR accused the airline of discrimination as she told the Evening Standard 'The way my son was treated was appalling.'

The incident happened on Tuesday aboard a tourist flight between Dusseldorf and the Greek island of Kos, with 171 passengers and seven staff on board the aircraft.

The intercept occurred on Sept. 15, about 80 miles east of the Shandong peninsula in the Yellow Sea and involved an American RC-135 reconnaissance plane, said Peter Cook, the Pentagon spokesman. "The pilot reported that he felt ... the (Chinese) aircraft passed in front of his nose in an unsafe fashion," Cook said. "There's no indication this was a near collision."

NEWS Unattended Phone Causes Flight Diversion

An unattended phone on an Air Canada flight gave emergency crews a scare this morning which led the flight to be diverted to Regina. 

The Toronto bound flight was in the air over Saskatchewan after taking off from Edmonton when the incident happened at around 09:00 CST.

Passenger, Cathy Sawyer said on Twitter that her plane was en route to Toronto, but was diverted to Regina because of a cellphone found on board.

In addition she said Somebody found it in the waiting area in Edmonton, brought it aboard and then went around asking the passengers if it belonged to them. 

The plane made an emergency diversion to Regina as no one claimed the phone so the phone could be removed.

Sawyer said by around 10:00 the phone had been removed from flight AC 1156 and the aircraft was refuelling. 

An Air Canada spokeswoman said "strictly out of an abundance of caution due to a security concern after an unclaimed cellphone was located on board."

There were 136 passengers on the plane and the company has identified the phone's owner.

NEWS WestJet launches host of Canadian connections from Gatwick

WestJet has announced new non-stop service from London Gatwick to six Canadian cities. From spring next year, customers can enjoy flying in style on board WestJet’s fleet of Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto. At the same time passengers can travel to St. John’s on WestJet’s Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 series.

NEWS Veteran accuses American Airlines of stopping him & service dog from boarding flight


Marine Corps veteran says he and his dog were stopped from boarding an American Airlines flight after gate agents accused the man of pretending the animal was a service dog.
Jason Haag, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, was wounded in action and later received service dog Axel to help him manage post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, he told ABC News today.
Haag, 35, said Axel "saved my life."
"He can take me out of anxiety attacks, he can pull me out of flashbacks ... my dog is my lifeline," he said.

NEWS Flight #LX318 A320 wingtip collided with mobile stairs at Zurich airport last thursday

Flight LX318 to A320 wingtip collided with mobile stairs (motorized) during pushback from gate D31 at Zurich Thursday morning.

The flight was ready to take off to London Heathrow.

The stairs remained impaled on the wingtip. Local news item said passengers were transferred to another aircraft with about a 90 minute delay.

On Monday 21st September 2015 British Airways Operated their final 737 flight to Scotland.

NEWS Ryanair is to open two new bases, at Santiago (Spain) and Milan (Malpensa)

The low cost airline Ryanair will open a new base at Milan beginning service to London Stansted, Comiso, Bucharest and Seville on the 1st December. In addition the airline will open a new base in Santiago, with one aircraft based there.

NEWS Finnair to receive their first A350 on 7th October and begin service to Shanghai on the 21st November


Helsinki based airline Finnair will be delivered of its first A350 from Airbus on the 7th October. The airline has 19 of the A350 on order and all are to be delivered by 2023.

Their first A350 will enter long haul service on 21st November to Shanghai. Following this the next routes will include Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore. The airline will also send the aircraft to New York later in the year.

For crew training, the aircraft will be flown before launch to Shanghai to European destinations in October.
