An Aer Lingus flight bound for Shannon, Ireland returned to JFK Airport and made an emergency landing with a small brake fire soon after takeoff Monday, authorities said.
The 757 turned back after the pilot reported hydraulic failure around 7:15 p.m., the Port Authority said. Flight EI110 came into the landing hot, causing the plane’s brakes to smoke. Authorities said a small fire broke out on the left rear brake. There were no injuries.
Passengers were bused from the tarmac to the terminal and a fire crew doused the smoldering gear.
