NEWS Lufthansa, cabin crew fail to reach deal on pension scheme
The latest round of talks between German airline Lufthansa and its cabin crew workers has failed, with union UFO rejecting the German airline's latest offers as "missing the point". The German carrier is currently negotiating with staff from various parts of its business as it tries to cut costs to compete more effectively with low cost carriers and Gulf rivals. It has said in talks with union UFO, which represents around 19,000 flight attendants, that low interest rates meant it could no longer afford the retirement scheme it has been offering to cabin crew, which cost it 3.7 billion euros ($4.19 billion) last year and allowed workers to retire at the age of 55.

NEWS Air France keeping more cast members then planned
Air France will cut less than a third of the 2,900 job cuts it proposed in a 2016/2017 plan that triggered clashes with some staff, the chief executive of parent company Air France-KLM said on Sunday. The job cuts in 2016 would be voluntary and heavier job losses in 2017 could be avoided if talks with unions led to an agreement on alternative savings measures by the beginning of next year, Alexandre de Juniac said. “The ‘Plan B’ takes place over two years, 2016 and 2017. For 2016 it is under way,” he said in an interview on RTL radio and the LCI news channel.
