EMERGENCY EasyJet #EZY8845 grounded after the aircraft was damaged mid-flight by a popped champagne cork

A stewardess on flight EZY8845, which left Gatwick for the sunshine resort of Dalaman, accidentally fired the stopper into the roof of the plane while opening a bottle of bubbly.

The cork not only damaged the roof of the jet, it also caused oxygen masks to shoot down above the cabin crew seats at the back of the plane.

Tourists, who were meant to arrive in Turkey at 10.30pm, say they suffered a seven-hour delay and did not reach their destination until 5.30am the next day.
